Welcome to the JediSource's Star Wars Timeline. A lot of time and a ton of research has been put into this so I hope everyone likes it! While not all-powerful, it includes the most major events from the films and expanded universe. Enjoy and tell me what you think!


Timeline is based on Episode IV - A New Hope being standard year zero.

-25,000 years

The Old Republic is formed among the Core Worlds, and Jedi Knights make their first appearance on the planets Coruscant and Ossus. The invention of the first hyperdrive eases the pain of long space travel.

-20,000 years

A large number of Jedi Knights are expelled from the Old Republic after becoming obsessed with the Dark Side of the force. After wandering for sometime, they come across the humanoid beings known as the Sith and enslave the species. The dark siders then become known as the Lords of the Sith, and for the next several thousand years their empire thrives and grows.

-5,000 years

Pioneering hyperspace explorers Gav and Jori Daragon stumble upon the Sith Empire. This discovery will eventually yield a major battle between the Old Republic and the Sith Empire.

-4,400 years

Traveling to Onderon, Freedon Nadd begins his rule; bringing with him the dark powers of the Sith.

-4,350 years

The Beast Wars of Onderon begin.

-4,000 years

The Jedi Knights, including Ulic Qel-Droma, intercede in the Beast Wars of Onderon.

-3,997 years

The Sith threat returns as Dark Lord Exar Kun turns dozens of Jedi Knights to the dark side. Kun is destroyed as a Jedi army invades his base on Yavin 4, but his spirit remains trapped in the base.

-896 years

Jedi Master Yoda is born.

-200 years

Chewbacca is born on Kashyyyk.

-92 years

Qui-Gon Jinn is born.

-82 years

Palpatine is born.

-72 years

Shmi Skywalker is born on Tatooine.

-57 years

Obi-Wan Kenobi is born.

-48 years

Mon Mothma is born on Chandrilla.

Padme Naberrie Amidala is born on Naboo.

Anakin Skywalker is born on Tatooine.

-32 years: Episode I - The Phantom Menace

Under orders from Darth Sidious, the Trade Federation has blockaded the small planet, Naboo. Qui-Gon Jinn and his padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi are sent to negotiate. After discovering their invasion army, the two go and rescue Queen Amidala. They make their escape but their ship is damaged and they are forced to land on Tatooine for repairs to the hyperdrive. They meet a young slave, Anakin Skywalker there. Anakin wins a podrace and the parts they need as well as his own freedom from Watto.

After going to Coruscant and asking the Senate for help, they head back to Naboo to stop the Trade Federation's invasion. During the Battle of Naboo, Qui-Gon Jinn is killed by Darth Maul, who is in turn killed by Obi-Wan. Queen Amidala regains Naboo and control over the matter. Senator Palpatine begins his rise to power when he's elected chancellor.

-29 years

Han Solo is born on Corellia.

-22 years: Episode II - Attack of the Clones

Senator Amidala avoids an assassination attempt by the Seperatists and Obi-Wan and Anakin are assigned to protect Padme. Anakin accompanies Padme to Naboo to hide, and they fall in love, while Obi-Wan visits Kamino and learns that a clone army is being created for the Republic. After having many dreams, Anakin and Padme travel to Tatooine and Anakin finds Shmi beaten to death by the Sand People. In revenge, he slaughters the entire encampment of Tusken Raiders. Padme and Anakin travel to Geonosis to try and save Obi-Wan after he is captured.

Anakin, and Padme are then captured on Geonosis by Count Dooku. A group of 200 Jedi Knights is assembled to assist in a rescue mission, but are soon overwhelmed by the droid armies on the Confederacy. During the battle, Jango Fett is killed by Mace Windu. Just when all hope is faded, Yoda shows up with armies of clonetroopers and the battle of Geonosis is soon won. Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala marry in secret. The Clone Wars have begun.

-18 to 20 years: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Padme gives birth to twins Luke and Leia Skywalker, who are hidden from Anakin. Luke is placed with Owen & Beru Lars and Leia is adopted by Bail Organa. Palpatine turns Anakin towards the dark side of the force, and when Obi-Wan Kenobi tries to save him from the dark side, a lightsaber duel ensues.

Anakin Skywalker is defeated and is badly wounded from the battle with his former master. When found by Palpatine, Skywalker is so badly injured, that he can only survive by wearing a specially built armor and breathing apparatus, thus becoming Darth Vader. The Emperor rises to power and begins his purge of the Jedi Knights. The Rebellion is formed by Mon Mothma, Bail Organa and Garm Bel Iblis.

Rebel agent Kyle Katarn steals the Empire's Death Star plans.

0 years: Episode IV - A New Hope

The Imperial Senate is dissolved, and Emperor Palpatine declares a New Order. Princess Leia is captured by Darth Vader, but not before she places the Death Star plans in R2-D2. Artoo and C-3PO escape in an escape pod and land on Tatooine. Owen Lars purchases the two droids from jawas. Luke meets Obi-Wan Kenobi after R2-D2 "runs" away and the Imperials kill Owen and Beru Lars in search of the droids.

Luke decides to go with Obi-Wan to Alderaan, but it is destroyed by the Death Star before they arrive. Luke, Han Solo, and Chewbacca rescue Leia while Obi-Wan confronts Vader and is struck down. The gang escape and head to the Rebel base on Yavin 4 where the Rebels launch an assault. The Battle of Yavin takes place and Luke Skywalker destroys the Death Star, which marks the Rebel Alliance's first major victory.

+1 year

Luke and Leia search for the Kaiburr crystal, which contains great Force powers, and encounter Darth Vader. During the encounter Vader learns Luke's identity. The Rebel Alliance sets up their Echo Base on the ice-planet, Hoth.

+3 years: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back

After searching throughout the far reaches of the galaxy, an Imperial probe droid finds the Rebel's Echo Base on Hoth. The Empire launches a ground assault on the base and it is evacuated. The Empire goes on to defeat the Rebels at the Battle of Hoth but most are successfully evacuated. After a having vision of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke goes to Dagobah to train under Jedi Master Yoda.

Leia, Han, Chewbacca and C-3PO hideout from the Empire but are eventually captured by Darth Vader on Bespin's Cloud City, after being tracked by Boba Fett. They are held as bait for Luke to come. Han is frozen in carbonite and given to Boba Fett for delivery to Jabba the Hutt. Luke faces Vader for the first time, and Vader claims to be his father. Luke loses his right hand and lightsaber in the duel. After refusing to turn to the dark side he is rescued by Leia, Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca leave to rescue Han Solo.

+3.5 years

Prince Xizor, head of the Black Sun criminal organization, plots to discredit Vader and become the Emperor's second in command. His plan is to have Luke killed and to make it look as if Vader was responsible. The plan fails and Xizor is killed. Luke builds a new lightsaber and Boba Fett delivers Han Solo to Jabba the Hutt. The Empire begins building a new Death Star.

+4 years: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi

Leia, disguised as Boush, brings Chewbacca in and frees Han from the carbonite but is captured and is forced to be one of Jabba's slave girls. Luke Skywalker then comes to rescue Han and Leia but is dropped to the Rancor, which he eventually kills. Jabba sentences the whole gang to death in the Sarlaac but they work together and kill Jabba the Hutt. Luke returns to Dagobah, and finds Yoda's life force fading. There Luke learns that Vader is in fact his father and Leia is his twin sister.

The Rebels plan an attack on the second Death Star. The Rebel fleet is drawn into a trap temporarily and is being destroyed. On Endor, Han and Leia lead a small group and with the help from the native Ewoks, destroy the shield generator that was protecting the Death Star. The Rebel fleet attack with full force and Wedge Antilles and Lando Calrissian destroy the Death Star during the Battle of Endor.

At the same time, Luke faces Vader and the Emperor and has defeated Vader, but the Emperor uses his "Force Lightning" on Luke. Darth Vader saves his son from death at the hands of the Emperor, but dies shortly after killing Palpatine. The Rebel Alliance celebrates on Endor.

+4 years

Just days after the Battle of Endor, the Rebels have to team up with Imperial forces to defeat the reptilian Ssi-ruuk under a truce at Bakura. The New Republic is formed, with Mon Mothma as Chief of State.

+6.5 years

Rogue Squadron, under the command of Wedge Antilles, take control of the Imperial capital planet of Coruscant under the New Republic banner.

+8 years

Prince Isolder asked Princess Leia to marry him. Han Solo was also in love with Leia and he kidnapped her to woo her on the planet of Dathomir, which he had won in a game of sabacc. The Millennium Falcon crashed on the planet and they were captured by the Singing Mountain Clan of the Witches of Dathomir. Prince Isolder and Luke Skywalker followed their trail to Dathomir, but Isolder was to late. Leia realizes that she loves Han and they are married on Coruscant.

+9 years

Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn returns from the far reaches of the galaxy and becomes a major threat to the New Republic. Thrawn recruits the dark Jedi Joruus C'baoth and promises to give him Luke and Leia in return for his help. Thrawn is eventually killed by his own bodyguard and Luke defeats C'baoth with the help of Mara Jade. Leia gives birth to twins, Jania and Jacen.

+10 years

Two different clones of Emperor Palpatine bring chaos to the New Republic, and almost turn Luke to the dark side. Using new weapons such as the Galaxy Gun and World Devastators, Imperial forces briefly regain Coruscant. Leia gives birth to her third child, whom she names Anakin in memory of her father.

+11 years

Luke establishes a Jedi training academy on Yavin 4, but is nearly killed by the re-awakened spirit of ancient Dark Lord Exar Kun and Kyp Durran, one of Luke's students who has turned to the dark side. Admiral Daala launches an unsuccessful Imperial campaign against the New Republic. Mon Mothma resigns as Chief of State and is replaced by Leia.

+12 years

Luke has an epic, but unfulfilled romance with the Jedi Knight Callista as he is trapped aboard The Eye Of Palpatine, a huge Imperial warship. During their escape Callista loses her Jedi powers. The Hutts try to build their own version of the Death Star, called the Darksaber, but it is destroyed by the New Republic. General Crix Madine is killed during the attack. Admiral Daala launches an attack on the Jedi Academy, but to her dismay, is unsuccessful yet again. Still unable to regain her Jedi powers, Callista leaves Luke.

+14 years

Han and Leia's three children are kidnapped by Hethrir, a former Imperial trained in the dark side who has established an Empire Reborn movement. The children are rescued by Han, Leia, Luke and Chewbacca.

+16 years

The Black Fleet declares war on the New Republic. Luke searches for his mother.

+17 years

Kueller, a former student at Luke's Jedi Academy, causes a holocaust on Almania.

+18 years

Thracken Sal-Solo, Han's cousin, leads a brutal revolutionary army intent on ruling the Corellian sector. The Solo children help to defeat their relative by disabling his star destroying weapon.

+19 years

Moff Disra stages the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn. The New Republic and the Empire agree to peace. Luke and Mara Jade decide to get married.

+22 years

Anakin Solo begins his instruction at the Jedi academy, soon followed by Jacen and Jaina.

+25 years

The Yuuzhan Vong have established a foothold in the Outer Rim, from where they can launch an invasion on the galaxy. They have technology unlike anything ever seen and they cannot be detected or affected by the Force.

Mara Jade is now married to Luke Skywalker and has been secretly infected with a disease by the Yuuzhan Vong, who are using her to see how strong the Jedi really are. While evacuating people from the planet Sernpidal, Han watches in horror as Chewbacca is killed when the moon crashes into the planet. Han, Leia, Jacen, Jania and Anakin help to defeat the Yuuzhan Vong at Dubrillian.

+26 years

The Battle of Duro takes place. The Jedi Academy is evacuated and the Great Temple is destroyed by Warmaster Tsavong Lah. Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade's first child is born. The boy is named Ben Skywalker in memory of Luke's mentor, Obi-Wan (Ben) Kenobi.

+27 years

The Yuuzhan Vong seize Coruscant, the seat of the New Republic. Anakin Solo is killed after he sacrifices himself to destroy the last of the voxyn genetic material.
